Drama Classes with a difference for children! Using creative drama to expand the imagination and build confidence.
Having Fun Since 2011
Our classes are designed to build confidence and raise self-esteem. A safe place for children to come and be themselves. We are different to other drama classes in the way we aren’t working towards a show. They are stand alone sessions where the individuals taking part get something out of each week. These classes aren’t only for children and young people interested in performing – they are for those who might struggle away from family, feel shy, or desperate to go to another out of school setting but don’t yet have the confidence!
About Us
Amazing Amy has over 20 years of experience in working with children and young people.
The combination of teaching GCSE Drama and Performing Arts in schools and working with vulnerable young people in foster care and residential homes makes Amy’s experience unique in terms of the approaches that work best in enabling all young people to take charge of their own success.
One thing we often hear is that ‘my child lacks confidence’ or ‘he doesn’t listen’. It is our belief that confidence building and speaking and listening skills are key in order for our children to reach their full potential.
It is our aim – and the main emphasis is fun – to improve these skills for young people within our community. With this in mind, we’re inviting young people in the area to join us once a week, to have fun whilst developing skills that will impact on the rest of their studies, and going forward in their lives.
Our classes will not be exam-focused, instead concentrating on self-discipline and creative thinking. Classes are designed to build confidence, raise self-esteem, and improve communication skills through drama workshops with a difference!
I guarantee all children will thoroughly enjoy the classes and have loads of fun with me, as well as learning these life skills 🙂
We celebrate each individual in their uniqueness and offer a setting that is safe and comfortable for each individual to be themselves. Parents that are already on board have said how there is nothing in the area like this for such good value and with the community feel. 100% success rate – every child that tries their taster lesson returns week upon week.
At Glasshouse Mini we run drama workshops with a difference; not working towards exams, but working towards achieving invaluable life skills in terms of communication, raising aspirations and building confidence.
What the Mums Say..
More than just a Drama Class
Glasshouse Mini was founded in 2011 by me! I had just finished working in social services as a family support worker with the fostering team – and was looking for something that combined my love of the theatre and the skills and training i’d had working for children’s services. So i started glasshouse mini. We aim to improve speaking and listening skills, build confidence, and raise self esteem – all under the guise of having a whole lot of fun in a safe and comfortable environment.
Reason I do what I do:
I was a painfully shy child. I found school extremely hard. I always had the belief and desire to work as a performer but didn’t have the confidence. I spoke quietly, ignored people and would disengage because I found it really hard. I would have loved a class like Glasshouse Mini and someone like me – Amazing Amy – to connect with. So i started what i would have loved
